Montgomery United Police Canine Association is composed of Montgomery County and Crawfordsville law enforcement officers, their K9 partners, and community volunteers. MUPCA was formed as a non-profit organization to support K9s, as they are an invaluable asset to law enforcement and our communities.
Our mission is to support the growth and development of K9 units, improve training facilities, and expand training opportunities. This mission strengthens our local and regional units.
K9s are natural crime deterrents and keep the community safer. Criminal apprehension utilizing K9s has a greater success rate along with far less likelihood of injury to law enforcement or members of the community. Apprehending criminals is just one aspect of their job, however. Their skill sets reach far beyond that in service to the community. It's not all about the bite! K9s can track to locate missing people as well. K9s are amazing at locating controlled substances and recovering evidence too. K9s are also de-escalation tools which often prevent harm to the suspect, officers, and the public while conserving resources.
Investing in K9s through the expansion of facilities and program development aids law enforcement, but it also benefits our community. A goal of MUPCA is to invest in and prepare teams to protect the public. K9s and their handlers work diligently to train and prepare for any circumstance that may arise. Supporting MUPCA allows law enforcement to further their training with K9s who are protecting and serving our community. Please consider donating today!
